Suspended colored plexiglass installation inspired by Henry Dunant at Dunant Hotel

2024 / Dunant Hotel Installation

Chroma is a site-specific installation created for the Dunant Hotel as a tribute to Henry Dunant and his humanitarian legacy. The project translates values such as compassion, care, and solidarity into a spatial and perceptual experience, using light and color as its primary language.
The installation is composed of a constellation of suspended translucent plexiglass panels, arranged to form a layered and immersive environment. These elements, varying in size and color, interact with natural light to generate a continuously shifting spectrum of reflections and chromatic overlaps. As sunlight passes through the panels, it creates a kaleidoscopic effect across floors and walls, evoking a sense of transformation, healing, and hope.
Inspired by the idea of a humanitarian landscape, the chromatic range moves from warm, intense tones to softer, more diffused hues, symbolizing the diverse contexts in which the Red Cross operates—from zones of conflict to moments of peace and recovery. The installation invites visitors not only to observe, but to physically move through the space, becoming part of the experience and activating the work through their presence.
The spatial layout is designed to maintain a fluid circulation path, allowing the body to navigate freely while continuously encountering changing perspectives and light conditions. Mirrors integrated into the environment further amplify the sense of depth and multiplicity, dissolving the boundaries between real and reflected space.
Chroma transforms the architectural interior into a living, responsive environment—an abstract yet emotional tribute where light becomes a metaphor for resilience, care, and the enduring impact of human action.
